Highland Village Hosts Òrain as t-Earrach
Music, culture, history and fun will come together on Saturday, May 19, during a Gaelic song workshop at the Nova Scotia Highland Village Museum/An Clachan Gàidhealach.
The workshop, Òrain as t-Earrach, or Songs in Spring, is being conducted by Highland Village Museum's manager of interpretation, Jim Watson.
During the workshop, Mr. Watson will present songs in the traditional Gaelic style and draw on his own experiences to explain the songs' stories and history. They will include examples of popular traditional ones such as milling and sailing songs, humorous compositions and love songs.
Registration for Òrain as t-Earrach will begin at 12:30 p.m. Participants will gather to listen and sing from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is ten dollars for adults and students attend free of charge. Light refreshments will be available during intermissions.
