Road-Improvement Contract Awarded for CBRM
A $523,073 road-improvement contract in Cape Breton Regional Municipality has been awarded by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.
The contract was awarded to Municipal Ready Mix Ltd. to install traffic signals and construct a left-turning lane on Trunk 4 at the Central Supplies store west of the Grand Lake Road intersection. The contract also calls for 0.3 kilometres of repaving. The cost of the project is being shared by Central Supplies.
"This busy spot will be safer for all drivers once the traffic signals are up and running," said Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This project is part of our ongoing efforts to improve safety on Nova Scotia's highways."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
