New Pavement Scheduled for Old Guysborough Road
Drivers heading to and from one of the Halifax area's most popular camping spots will have a smoother trip after the completion of a road-paving tender announced today, May 10, by the province.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works has called for tenders to repave Route 212 (Old Guysborough Road) from the intersection of Wyse Road, east of Dollar Lake Provincial Park, for 7.4 kilometres east to the intersection of Route 357, south of Elderbank.
"Dollar Lake is a busy spot in the summer so I'm pleased this project is on the schedule," said Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This tender is part of our aggressive program to upgrade Nova Scotia's highways."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
