Seven Cumberland County Bridges to be Refurbished
Drivers who use the bridges of Cumberland County will soon be travelling on upgraded structures thanks to a tender announced by the province.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works has called for tenders to refurbish the following Cumberland County bridges:
- Black River Bridge on Trunk 4
- Teed Bridge on Trunk 4
- Mill Creek Bridge on Shulie Road
- Burns Bridge on Shinimicas Road
- Clifton Bridge on Jungle Road
- Springhill Junction Bridge on Trunk 2
- Victoria Road Overpass on Victoria Road over Highway 104
"Most of these bridges require only minor repairs, but it's important that we keep them in shape with regular maintenance," said Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This is part of our aggressive program to upgrade Nova Scotia's highway system."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
