Cancer Survivorship
A lecture to help Nova Scotians answers questions about cancer survival will be hosted by Cancer Care Nova Scotia on Tuesday, May 8, in Halifax and available by video conference at numerous sites in the province.
It is part of the Cancer Answers lecture series, designed to provide Nova Scotians with quality cancer information. The lecture will be presented by Dr. Eva Grunfeld, director, Cancer Outcomes Research Program, Cancer Care Nova Scotia.
"Every day, through research, we're learning about ways to find cancer earlier and treat it better," said Theresa Marie Underhill, chief operating officer, Cancer Care Nova Scotia. "As a result, more Nova Scotians than ever before are living with, living through or living beyond cancer.
"This is wonderful news, but it raises questions. How often should a cancer survivor have routine checkups? Who should provide that care? How do you know when an ache or a pain should be checked? Patient and family concerns are very real and they are very individual and this lecture is sure to be of value."
The lecture will be held in the Royal Bank Lecture Theatre, Halifax Infirmary, 1796 Summer St., and available by video conference at:
- St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish
- Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston
