Marketing the Atlantic Gateway

Another step has been taken to seize the opportunity to establish the Atlantic Gateway in Nova Scotia.

The province has requested proposals to develop a gateway marketing strategy and action plan. The plan will create greater awareness of Nova Scotia's international transportation gateway assets at home and abroad.

"The province needs an aggressive and effective marketing effort to maximize its full potential as a strategic international transportation gateway," said Transportation and Public Works Minister Angus MacIsaac. "Nova Scotia's development as a strategic international marine and air gateway will benefit the province, the Atlantic region and the country as a whole."

Nova Scotia's potential gains as an international gateway include exponential growth in container traffic, significant growth opportunities in international air passenger and cargo traffic handling, and the cruise ship industry.

The marketing consultant will provide a range of professional services for the development of the first phase of the Nova Scotia gateway marketing strategy. The consultant will, among other things:

  • identify target market audiences;
  • identify aspects or features of Nova Scotia's gateway that could benefit from increased, or enhanced, marketing home and abroad;
  • develop a vision, goals and objectives for Nova Scotia's gateway marketing strategy;
  • develop key marketing themes and messages for target audiences for which Nova Scotia could be a gateway.
