Two Tenders Called for Antigonish Paving
Drivers in Antigonish County will be travelling on smoother, stronger roads after the completion of two paving tenders called by the province.
The first tender is for repaving on Trunk 7 from north of the Antigonish/Guysborough County Line for 8.3 kilometres to near Glen Alpine. Also included is repaving of the following two roads north of Antigonish: Cribbons Point Road from the intersection of Route 337, east for 1.7 kilometres, and Arisaig Point Road from the intersection of Route 245 for 0.8 kilometres to its end.
The second tender is for repaving on Trunk 4 from about 3.4 kilometres west of Exit 31A west for 6.5 kilometres to the intersection of the Beaver Meadow Road.
"Recently, our main focus in Antigonish County has been the upgrading of Highway 104," said Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "But the roads involved in these tenders are well-used and need to be kept in top shape, as well."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
