New Members Join Film Corporation Board
A local business person and a lawyer from Halifax recently joined the board of the Nova Scotia Film Development Corporation.
Michael Condé is a managing partner with Nova Business Ventures Associates, and brings extensive experience in business management and operations to the board. Mr. Condé served on the board from 2000-05, and is renewing his commitment to and interest in the film industry with this new appointment.
Cheryl Hodder is a partner with the law firm McInnes Cooper. Her background is in corporate governance and has previous experience in the arts and related economic development opportunities, having served on the boards of Neptune Theatre and Symphony Nova Scotia.
"The legal and business experience that Ms. Hodder and Mr. Condé bring will be invaluable to board operations," said Bonnie Kirby, board chair. "We are pleased that the film board continues to attract talented and dedicated individuals."
Ann MacKenzie, chief executive officer of the corporation said, "The industry is fast paced and exciting. We know our new board members will enjoy their involvement with the film community."
The Nova Scotia Film Development Corporation is a provincial Crown agency reporting to the minister of economic development. The corporation provides a wide range of programs and services to build the capacity and competitiveness of the province's film, television and new media industries. The provincial film industry is the fourth largest in Canada, regularly exceeding $100 million in economic activity annually.
