Amendments to the Livestock Health Services Act
Acting Agriculture Minister Ron Chisholm introduced amendments to the Livestock Health Services Act today, March 19, in the legislature.
The proposed amendment will give the minister of agriculture authority to make changes to the travel and service fees paid to veterinarians who look after large farm animals.
"Veterinarians provide a key service to farmers who are not able to transport their animals to veterinarian clinics," said Mr. Chisholm. "We want to make sure that they are adequately compensated for this service."
The proposed legislation does not affect the fees that are charged by veterinarians for their services.
