Youth Recipient Added to Order of Nova Scotia

An amendment to the Order of Nova Scotia Act means there can be a sixth recipient each year –- a youth.

In the past, the Order of Nova Scotia Advisory Council has chosen a maximum of five recipients each year. The amendment, which was passed in the fall session of the legislature, states that a sixth recipient must be under the age of 26 and have distinguished himself or herself by outstanding contributions to their community or achievement in a chosen field.

The deadline for nominations for the 2007 Order of Nova Scotia is Friday, March 16. Nomination forms can be picked up at Access Nova Scotia centres throughout the province. They are also available at Province House, at the offices of all members of the legislative assembly, Nova Scotia members of parliament and senators, as well as municipal offices.
