Nova Scotia Under Your Nose Campaign Launched
The Nova Scotia "Come to life" initiative is ramping up its external marketing campaign with a focus on bringing business to the province.
The Under Your Nose campaign started today, Feb. 19, in Boston, Toronto and Ottawa. The ads deliver the message that the best opportunities are sometimes found in a place you might not expect, a place that is right under your nose -- Nova Scotia.
Premier Rodney MacDonald said businesses worldwide are beginning to learn more about the opportunities available in our province and this campaign will help build more awareness.
"Nova Scotia has exciting opportunities, an unbeatable quality of life, and low costs of development," said Premier MacDonald. "Our province is growing and we want business leaders in those key markets to know about the potential that exists here."
The Under Your Nose campaign will target business leaders through newspaper/print, Internet, billboard and television ads, and will run for four weeks. The ads focus on the information and communications technology and life sciences sectors in Nova Scotia. A number of businesses and organizations in those sectors are thriving in Nova Scotia, for example HB Studio in Lunenburg, AG Research in Sydney and RIM in Halifax.
Nova Scotia is also home to the Brain Repair Centre, which links together 100 world class researchers and physicians specializing in ground-breaking brain repair treatments and technologies. The centre is also a charter member with Nova Scotia "Come to life" initiative. Internationally-renowned neurosurgeon and life sciences researcher Dr. Ivar Mendez is chair of the centre. He said Nova Scotia provides a spirit of co-operation and innovation, that is hard to find.
"Nova Scotia has provided a special environment and neuroscience research infrastructure that has attracted a unique group of world class researchers and clinicians working together to find new therapies and treatments for diseases previously thought to be incurable, such as Parkinson's disease, stroke, spinal cord injury and psychotic disorders," said Dr. Mendez.
"I'm really excited about this campaign. It is smart and witty and it is going to grab the attention of businesses in some very big markets. Hopefully, we'll get them thinking about Nova Scotia as a perfect place in which to expand and do business," said Premier MacDonald.
Nova Scotia "Come to life" is a public-private sector initiative. Working together, government and private-sector partners are marketing Nova Scotia as an excellent place in which to live, work, invest, receive an education, play, and visit. The goal is to enhance investment, trade and economic development opportunities in the province.
