Eight Nova Scotia squash players are ready to hit the court in Whitehorse, Yukon, at the 2007 Canada Winter Games from Feb. 23 to March 10.

The final team was selected after the completion of three trials held in March, May and September of 2006. The team consists of:

  • Niamh Campbell of Halifax
  • Annie Langley of Halifax
  • Brian Latimer of Cole Harbour
  • Brett Keeble of Halifax
  • Raquel (Kelli) Keeble of Halifax
  • Keifer Latremouille of Halifax
  • Morgan Latremouille of Halifax
  • Arielle Petropolis of Bedford

In preparation for the event the team participated in two out-of-province tournaments, the most recent in February. The team will continue to practice three times a week until they leave for the Games. Each member trains for nine hours a week.

Coach Melissa Shakespeare of Halifax and manager Richard Latimer of Cole Harbour will accompany the team to Whitehorse.

"It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in the Games and represent your province," said Ms. Shakespeare. "The team has been training really hard and we hope to exceed all our expectations."

Team Nova Scotia 2007 has 290 members -- 213 athletes, 36 coaches, 23 managers, three artists and 15 mission staff. See the team's website at ns.canadagames.ca for the latest information on Team Nova Scotia.
