Premier, Companies Excited About Alberta Partnering Possibilities

A three-day trade mission to Alberta to promote products and services has forged valuable prospects, Premier Rodney MacDonald, said today, Jan. 27.

"Alberta's political and business leaders welcomed us with opened arms, and the spirit of opportunity was contagious," said Premier MacDonald. "I think everyone is coming back excited by the progress we made in selling our message to Alberta, with the linkages and partnerships we made with businesses, and the opportunities ahead of our companies in that market."

The mission, led by the four Atlantic premiers, generated awareness and potential business deals for Nova Scotia companies and Nova Scotia Community College.

Brad Murray, manager of manufacturing resources with Trenton Works Ltd., one of the companies on the mission, said his company is very pleased with their progress in Alberta.

"Our company has made great strides in evolving to meet the demands of hot markets like Alberta's oil and gas industry," said Mr. Murray. "We signed two deals with Alberta companies before Christmas, and are excited about the possibilities coming from the meetings in the past few days. This market is hungry for what we can offer, and our company is seeing results."

The Nova Scotia delegation is part of the Council of Atlantic Premiers trade mission to Alberta, which has 30 companies and four provincial premiers travelling to Edmonton and Fort McMurray over three days to promote partnerships between Alberta and local companies.
