Ringette Team Named for Canada Games
Seventeen Nova Scotians will vie for the ring in Whitehorse, Yukon, at the 2007 Canada Winter Games from Feb. 23 to March 10.
The final ringette team, selected in September, is as follows:

- Ashley Fairfax, Berwick, Kings Co.
- Raylee Godin, Dartmouth
- Kerith Gordon, Halifax
- Angela Keddy, Halifax
- Rebecca Kerr, Bedford
- Lindsay MacLellan, Halifax
- Sarah Mader, Halifax
- Lauren Morse, Berwick, Kings Co.
- Allison Saade, Halifax
- Whitney Slipp, Berwick, Kings Co.
- Vanessa Wallace, Lower Sackville
Team coaches Chris Clarke of Lower Sackville and Liz O'Hanley of Cole Harbour will accompany the team, along with team manager Cathy Hebert of Dartmouth.
"Our team has been playing well in tournaments across the country since September," said Mr. Clarke. "With that experience and the team development over the past few months, we expect to place well in our pool in Whitehorse."
At a recent tournament in Quebec, the team placed second in its pool and fifth out of eight teams. The team has also been dry-land training, strength and cardio training, and holding weekly two-hour practices to prepare for the Games.
Team Nova Scotia 2007 has 290 members -- 213 athletes, 36 coaches, 23 managers, three artists and 15 mission staff. See the team's website at http://ns.canadagames.ca for the latest information on Team Nova Scotia.
The Canada Games is the country's largest amateur multi-sport event. More than 3,600 athletes, coaches and managers will gather in Whitehorse to compete for 1,122 medals in 22 sports.
