Archery Team Named for Canada Games
Six Nova Scotia archers will be aiming for gold in Whitehorse, Yukon, at the 2007 Canada Winter Games from Feb. 23 to March 10.
The final team was selected after combining the athletes' scores from three qualifying tournaments. Blair Kane of Dartmouth, Michel Maillet of St. Bernard, Digby Co.; Shane Rafuse of Greenwood, King's Co.; Jeff Ryan of Prospect, Nicole Theriault of Meteghan, Digby Co.; and Rhiannon Wyatt of Prospect will be representing Nova Scotia in the upcoming Canada Games.
In preparation for the event the team will participate in three more provincial competitions and continue with their current training routine. Each member trains for six to eight hours a week.
Coach Rick Comeau of Saulnierville, Digby Co., will lead the team along with manager, Aline Quinlan of Little Brook, Digby Co.
"With this type of course we have an opportunity to do really well," said Mr. Comeau. "We have an excellent chance for two medals in the compound event."
