Central Kings Rural High School Renovations Complete

Education (July 1999 - March 2013)

Students, teachers and staff at Central Kings Rural High School, in Cambridge, Kings Co., are celebrating the end of renovations at their school.

The upgrades include a new wing of classrooms, a second gymnasium, an improved administration area, a music and drama facility, improvements to the electrical system, overhead projectors in the classrooms, and a new ventilation system. Other work, including a new bus loop, will also benefit the adjoining Cambridge and District Elementary School.

The $11.9-million project was built in four phases between February 2004 and September 2006.

"These renovations took a long time and large funding investments by the province, but I think the students, staff and the community will agree that the end result was worth the wait," said acting Education Minister Jamie Muir.

The renovations at Central Kings Rural High are part of the provincial government's long-term plan for public schools that includes a $400-million investment over eight years. This will create 32 new schools and renovate 45 others.
