Whole New Thing to have Free Screening
The Nova Scotia Film Development Corporation and Empire Theatres will host a free screening of Amnon Buchbinder's film Whole New Thing on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Oxford Theatre.
Whole New Thing tells the story of Emmerson Thorsen (Aaron Webber), a precocious youth who has spent his life being home schooled by his hippie parents in rural Nova Scotia. At age 13, when he is sent to the local school for the first time, he confounds his classmates and captures the attention of his English teacher (Daniel MacIvor). The experience is a whole new thing, for everyone.
Co-written by Mr. Buchbinder and Mr. MacIvor and produced by Palpable Productions and Acuity Pictures Productions, Whole New Thing was shot in Nova Scotia. The film won multiple awards at the 2006 Atlantic Film Festival and received the Chum award for Best Canadian Film at the Victoria Independent Film & Video Festival.
Screening Nights are presentated by the film development corporation and Empire Theatres. They are held four times a year, and allow local audiences to see homegrown film productions and enable local filmmakers to promote their work.
