Paving Project Announced for Cumberland County

Drivers between Minudie and Barronsfield in Cumberland County will soon be travelling on a smoother road thanks to a paving tender announced by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.

The tender is for repaving on Barronsfield Road from Minudie for six kilometres to Barronsfield. The project is expected to be completed by July 31, 2007.

The tender deadline is Friday, Dec. 1.

"The water beside this road may rise and fall, but the road itself will be smooth once this project is completed," said Jamie Muir, acting Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "By tendering this job now we can get an early start on it next spring."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
