NSBI Executive Appointed to PSLO Network

A trade development executive has broken new ground and aims to create a number of world-wide opportunities for Nova Scotians.

The World Bank Group has appointed Wendy Luther, trade development executive with Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI), to join the Private Sector Liaison Officer network.

Supported by the World Bank Group, the liaison officer network was founded in 1999 to foster trade and investment between countries.

As the first liaison officer in Nova Scotia, Ms. Luther will work to open doors between Nova Scotia and World Bank Group and Inter-American Development Bank funded projects. She will facilitate companies' access to World Bank Group business opportunities, services, and knowledge, connecting Nova Scotia companies to contracts to help improve standards of living in developing countries.

"Our Nova Scotia exporters are already bidding on contracts, and successfully implementing projects, around the world," said Ms. Luther. "This appointment will improve our access to information about international development opportunities and will help our companies increase their chances of success."

The liaison officer network includes 62 officers from 46 countries in Europe, Africa, South and East Asia, North America and Latin America. As a member of the network, NSBI will become a central location for Nova Scotia companies interested in World Bank procurement contracts and will increase its global visibility.

"Congratulations to Wendy on her appointment as the first PSLO in Nova Scotia," said Stephen Lund, president and CEO of NSBI. "With the support of knowledgeable and resourceful trade professionals like NSBI's Wendy Luther, Nova Scotia companies continue to succeed globally while making a difference in the lives of those in the developing world."

Nova Scotia exporters and potential exporters gathered at the Halifax Club to learn how they can tap into World Bank Group and Inter-American Development Bank opportunities. The luncheon included guest speaker Laura Dorling, senior counsellor, Canadian Executive Director’s Office with the Inter-American Development Bank.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. is Nova Scotia's private sector led business development agency. NSBI is the investment attraction arm of the province and helps companies in Nova Scotia meet their growth potential through business advisory, export development and financial services.
