Road to Celtic Colours Ceilidh

The road to Cape Breton's Celtic Colours International Festival runs through Sherbrooke again this year.

On Thursday, Oct. 5, the night before the official Celtic Colours kick-off, master fiddler Jerry Holland will headline the third annual Road To Celtic Colours Ceilidh at the Sherbrooke Village Courthouse. Mr. Holland, who will be accompanied by pianist Marian Dewar, is the headline act at the inaugural event, which is produced in co-operation with Celtic Colours International Festival.

Max MacDonald, festival director, Cape Breton's Rave Entertainment, who produce Celtic Colours, said the working relationship with Sherbrooke Village has become a tradition. "We're pleased to see other areas of the province benefitting from the work we've done, and the folks at Sherbrooke Village have in turn helped us spread the word about the great music and traditions for which Celtic Colours is famous," said Mr. MacDonald.

Regular courthouse ceilidh performers Roly Burton, Bob MacDonald and Ellie Burton will join in the ceilidh, which will be hosted by concert organizer George Brothers, manager of program development at Sherbrooke Village.

Mr. Brothers said the ceilidh is a fitting end to a successful concert series. "We're very grateful to the organizers of Celtic Colours for continuing to allow us to associate our event with theirs," said Mr. Brothers. "We're so pleased to have Jerry Holland and Marion Dewar returning to Sherbrooke to perform in our courthouse.

"This event will truly provide folks with a preview of the spirit and music that is Celtic Colours. It's an extra opportunity to enjoy some of the best Celtic music available, and in one of the very best sounding rooms in the province."

Tickets for the ceilidh, which starts at 7:30 p.m., are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. For more information call 1-888-743-7845.
