Halifax Harbour Festival Starts Friday, Sept. 15
Country Idol contests, musical entertainment, a kids country jamboree and a nautical flea market are some of the activities that people can enjoy at the 2nd annual Halifax Harbour Festival, Friday, Sept. 15, to Sunday, Sept. 17.
The festival includes daytime and evening entertainment for all ages at four waterfront venues in Bedford, Dartmouth, Eastern Passage and Halifax.
The festival kickoff on Friday features musical entertainment from Faded Blue, October Game and Big Fish at the Halifax Tall Ships Quay entertainment tent. On the Dartmouth side, people will get a chance to do the performing in the Adult Country Idol contest at Alderney Landing. Audra Raulyns and Mark Camron -- winner of the Rodeo Lounge Country Idol -- will perform earlier in the evening.
Activities continue on Saturday, Sept. 16, with family entertainment at all venues. The Bedford Youth Development Association family day will be take place from 10 p.m. to 2 p.m, at Bedford Dewolfe Park and a line-up of musical artists will perform throughout the day in Eastern Passage.
In Dartmouth, a variety of family activities will take place at Alderney Landing including a family country jamboree, games, and a Kids Country Idol. There will also be a celebration at the Dartmouth Harbourwalk trail.
The family entertainment continues at the Halifax Tall Ships Quay and includes a kids carnival, a young songwriters circle, and the Convoy Cup Harbour Race.
On Sunday, Sept. 17, closing activities will take place in Dartmouth and Halifax, and include the first annual nautical flea market and a family songwriters circle.
The 2nd annual Halifax Harbour Festival is produced by the Waterfront Development Corporation Ltd., and presented by The Daily News. It celebrates the important role of the harbour in the social, cultural, and economic fabric of our communities.
