Paving Project Scheduled for Richmond County
Driving along the shores of West Bay on the Bras d'Or Lakes in Cape Breton will be a smoother, safer experience thanks to a road-paving tender announced by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.
The tender is for repaving on the West Bay Highway (also known as Dundee Road) near St. Georges Channel from east of the intersection of Black River Road for about 4.9 kilometres to the Pringle Brook bridge.
"Good roads provide important support for tourism and other industries in Nova Scotia," said Transportation and Public Works Minister Angus MacIsaac. "That's why our road paving budget has quadrupled since 1999."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro, and Sydney.
