Two Paving Contracts Awarded in Yarmouth County

Two paving contracts in Yarmouth County, valued at almost $1.8-million dollars, have been announced by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.

One contract, worth $1,317,000, was awarded to Lafarge Canada Inc. to repave Route 340, from the intersection of Route 203 in Carleton for about seven kilometres toward the Yarmouth-Digby county line.

The other contract, worth $458,300, was awarded to Aberdeen Paving Ltd. to repave Trunk 3, from the intersection of the Chebogue Road east for 2.9 kilometres to the intersection of the Dominique Road.

"The improvement of Nova Scotia's highways is one of government's top priorities," said Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "Drivers should be on the look-out for construction crews all around the province this summer and drive with care through work zones."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
