Fun, Music and Excitement at the 50+ Expo

Music, fun and entertainment will be front and centre once again at this year’s 50+ expo.

The 50+ expo will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, June 9, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, at Exhibition Park, 200 Prospect Rd., Halifax. Tickets are $5 per day and are available at the door.

This year’s theme is Broadway's Best and promises to be full of toe-tapping entertainment. The expo will feature some Broadway favourites, fun food tips from Pete Luckett, professional floral arranging by Neville MacKay, the 4th annual Star Search Competition, and the presentation of this year's Remarkable Seniors Awards.

There will also be more than 100 exhibition booths, each one filled with useful information about opportunities and services available to seniors in Nova Scotia.

"The 50+ expo is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the endless contributions that the seniors of this province make to their communities everyday," said Valerie White, executive director of the Seniors' Secretariat. "It really is a great way to help make aging a more positive experience for Nova Scotia's seniors."

The expo is also the kick off to Seniors' Week, June 11-17. This year’s theme is Celebrating Seniors: Changing Images for Positive Aging.

"The expo is the perfect way to begin Seniors' Week," said Ms. White. "Showcasing the talents and contributions of seniors to this province is what the theme of this years Seniors' Week is all about."

The 50+ expo is made possible each year with the help of individual businesses and organizations that donate their time and expertise to its planning and implementation. The expo is a non-profit event and is sponsored by government and the corporate sector.
