New Provincial Budget on May 9

Finance Minister Michael Baker today, May 5, announced he will introduce the government's 2006-07 budget in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly on Tuesday, May 9, beginning at 1 p.m.

"This will be our fifth consecutive balanced budget," said Mr. Baker. "We will continue to build a strong, competitive province with a diverse economy, and remain on course with our debt-management plan."

The minister said that due to good fiscal management and an improved economy, the province is now in a position to make strategic investments to make life better for Nova Scotians.
