Road Improvement Contract Awarded in Lunenburg County

A road improvement contract awarded in Lunenburg County will result in smoother travel on Trunk 10 near Bridgewater.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works has awarded a $126,350 contract for the construction of a left turning lane on Trunk 10 at the intersection of MacCulloch Road, near Bridgewater. The contract was awarded to Nova Paving Ltd., and is scheduled for completion by the end of June.

"The volume of traffic at this intersection has increased considerably," said Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This contract will result in safer left turns from Trunk 10 onto MacCulloch Road."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
