Road-Paving Contract Awarded in Annapolis County
Drivers on Highway 101 in the Bridgetown area, near the Rice Road exit and the Spurr Road Underpass, will see new paving work underway soon. About 8.5 kilometres of highway will be repaved.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works has awarded a paving contract valued at $1,861,610 to Dexter Construction Co. Ltd. The project is scheduled for completion this summer.
"Highway 101 is the transportation lifeline of the Annapolis Valley," said Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "We need to keep existing lanes in shape, while twinning the highway continues."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff members provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
