Paving Project Scheduled For Eastern Shore

Drivers along Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore will be travelling on smoother, safer roads after completion of a road-paving project tendered by the province.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works has advertised a tender for repaving on Trunk 7 from the Newcombes Brook Bridge for 5.9 kilometres to Dewolfes Road.

The tender closes on Thursday, March 2, and the work is scheduled for completion by the end of August.

"This work on Trunk 7 is not only an important project from the perspective of area residents but will also be good for tourism," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "Our ongoing efforts to return it to top shape will benefit all drivers."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
