Metro Transit Case Concluded
An independent human rights board of inquiry that was to begin hearing arguments today, Feb. 13, in a complaint of disability against Halifax Regional Municipality's Metro Transit did not proceed.
A tentative settlement was reached before the board hearing officially began in the case involving Malcolm Browne of Dartmouth. The board was to hear Mr. Browne's allegation that Metro Transit failed to accommodate a disability caused by ongoing pain in one of his ankles.
An earlier news release issued by the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission had incorrectly said other matters were also to be considered and that Local 508 of the Amalgamated Transit Union was a party to the complaint.
