Paving Project Scheduled for Annapolis County

Drivers in the Bridgetown area will be travelling on a smoother, stronger road as a result of a tender announcement by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.

The tender is for repaving 8.5 kilometres of Highway 101, from Exit 21 at Rice Road, westerly to about 3.5 kilometres east of the Spurr Road underpass.

The tender closes on Thursday, Feb. 16 and the work is scheduled for completion by the end of August.

"Twinning Highway 101 is one of our top priorities but we must concentrate on keeping the existing lanes of that route in top shape, too," said Transportation and Public Works Minister Ron Russell. "Highway 101 is the transportation lifeline of the Annapolis Valley."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
