Restrictions Lifted Temporarily in Some Counties
Roads in the northern and eastern areas of Nova Scotia will see the temporary removal of spring weight restrictions.
Effective immediately, the Department of Transportation and Public Works is temporarily lifting spring weight restrictions on all roads in the following counties: Cumberland, Colchester, Pictou, Guysborough, Antigonish, Richmond, Inverness, Cape Breton and Victoria. The restrictions will be lifted until 6:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 4.
Spring weight restrictions remain in effect until further notice in the counties of Yarmouth, Shelburne, Digby, Annapolis, Queens, Kings, Lunenburg, Halifax and Hants.
Updated information on future road openings and closures, is available on the Department of Transportation and Public Works website at www.gov.ns.ca/tran .
Transportation and Public Works staff will continue to monitor conditions to determine the level of frost in the roads. If the weather turns colder to the point that the roads are frozen and no damage can occur, then spring weight restrictions will be removed.
