Road-Paving Contract Awarded in Pictou County

Drivers south of Westville in Pictou County will be travelling on smoother, safer pavement after the completion of a road-paving contract announced by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.

The $743,447 contract was awarded to S.W. Weeks Construction Limited and is for repaving on White Hill Road from Middle River Road south for 3.6 kilometres to the intersection of E. Fraser Road, northwest of White Hill. The project is expected to be completed this summer.

"Bringing this road back to top shape will make for smoother driving in this area," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "The province is working hard to upgrade Nova Scotia's highways."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
