Nova Scotia Releases Health Workforce Action Plan
Nova Scotia has reached another milestone in the plan to ensure there will be enough health-care workers to care for Nova Scotians in the years ahead.
Health Minister Angus MacIsaac released Nova Scotia's Health Human Resource Action Plan, today, Dec. 21, fulfilling a commitment made at the 2004 First Ministers' Meeting.
"Nova Scotia's health human resource strategy will be based on the health needs of Nova Scotians," said Mr. MacIsaac. "We have achieved many successes already, yet we have a significant challenge ahead of us. Our focus is to work with our stakeholders to develop the right strategies to ensure we build a health system that is sustainable for future generations."
The action plan highlights Nova Scotia's achievements to strengthen health human resources, such as the provincial nursing strategy, physician recruitment initiatives, bursary programs for medical laboratory technologists, and other partnerships and projects. The plan also outlines the province's goals and next steps.
