Tenders Called For Lunenburg County Paving Project
Drivers travelling beside the LaHave River near Bridgewater will be sailing along on smoother, stronger pavement thanks to a road-paving project tendered by the province.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works has called for tenders to repave Route 331 from the Bridgewater town line south for 10.9 kilometres to the LaHave River Yacht Club. The project is scheduled for completion next summer.
"The province is working hard to return Nova Scotia's roads to top shape," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "By tendering this job now we can get an early start on it in 2006."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
