Family Doctors: Key Members of Health-care Team--Op-Ed Piece

NOTE: The following is an op-ed piece by Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Health.

Family doctors are key members of Nova Scotia's health-care team, and this week, we celebrate them across the nation during Family Doctor Week, Dec. 5 to 11.

Every day, Nova Scotia's family doctors work hard to treat illness and support good health across the province.

As health minister, it has been my pleasure to meet and come to know many family doctors and how they contribute to their communities and an ever-changing health-care system.

Family doctors will continue to be instrumental in how we improve primary health care, train, recruit and retain doctors, and respond to challenges facing health care such as higher rates of chronic disease, an aging population, and timely access to quality care.

That's why it's important to work together throughout the year and to share and celebrate successes when they are achieved.
