Upgrade for Cabot Trail
Drivers on Nova Scotia's most scenic highway will be motoring on a more comfortable, safer road surface after the completion of a road-paving contract awarded by the province.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works has awarded a $2,085,639 contract to Dexter Construction for repaving on the Cabot Trail from the intersection of Doyle Road in Margaree Forks north for about seven kilometres.
"The Cabot Trail is the signature highway route for visitors to Nova Scotia," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This project will return this section to top shape."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
