Province Awards Paving Contract for Marine Drive in Halifax County
Traffic around scenic Ship Harbour on Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore will soon be moving on a newly paved section of road after the completion of a paving contract awarded by the province.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works has awarded a $1,047,960 contract to Dexter Construction for paving on Trunk 7 (Marine Drive) from Ship Harbour, east for 6.9 kilometres, to Newcombes Brook bridge.
"The scenery along Marine Drive on the Eastern Shore is spectacular," said Michael Baker, acting Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "Upgrading this section will make it easier and safer for visitors to see what the area has to offer."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
