Tenders Called for Road-Safety Projects in Annapolis Valley

A tender for road work called by the province will restore two storm-damaged roadways for drivers in Digby and Annapolis counties.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works has called for a tender to construct a reinforced earth-retaining wall on the off ramp of the Highway 101-Digby interchange and on Waldec Line Road, east of the Highway 101 underpass.

"The slopes supporting these roads were damaged during heavy spring rains resulting in temporary solutions to keep the roads open," said Michael Baker, acting Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This project will return the slopes to full strength and improve safety on these sections."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
