Province Awards Road-Paving Contract in Halifax County
A $1,638,059 road-paving contract on Nova Scotia's scenic Eastern Shore was announced by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.
The contract, awarded to Dexter Construction, is for repaving on Crowell Road -- also known as West Porters Lake Road -- from the intersection of Route 207 for 5.4 kilometres to the intersection of Old Middle Porters Lake Road. There will also be repaving on Pleasant Point Road -- also known as Ostrea Lake Road -- from the Ostrea Lake-West Jeddore crossroad for 4.4 kilometres to the end of the existing pavement.
"This contract is one of several that have been awarded this season for work on the Eastern Shore," said Michael Baker, acting Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "Our department is working hard to upgrade Nova Scotia's highways this year."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
