Tenders Called for Traffic Signals in Reserve Mines

A provincial tender to install new traffic signals in Reserve Mines will result in safer crossings and reduced waiting times for area motorists.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works called for tenders, today, Sept. 14, to install traffic signals at the intersection of Trunk 4 (Reserve Street) and Main Street in Reserve Mines.

"The need for these signals was identified through a corridor study the department worked on with the Cape Breton Regional Municipality," said Michael Baker, acting Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "The underground conduit is already in place so traffic disruption during the installation of the signals will be minimal."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
