Cape Breton District Health Authority Seeks Additional Input on Health Services
Residents in the Cape Breton health district are being asked for additional public input on how the province delivers continuing-care services to infants, children, youth, adults and seniors.
"We want to ensure we've heard from residents throughout Cape Breton and validate what we've heard in earlier consultations," said Health Minister Angus MacIsaac. "This is an important health-care issue, and we want to ensure we hear from as many Nova Scotians as possible."
Continuing-care services include home care, nursing homes, end-of-life care, adult day centres, adult protection, and other services that support people of all ages living in the community.
More than 50 public meetings were held throughout the province during June, July and August. Public input and additional research will be used to develop short- and long-term plans for continuing-care services.
The feedback received during the two additional Cape Breton consultations will be added to information already collected. That input will guide the continuing care planning process.
The Cape Breton area public meetings will be held on Thursday, Sept. 22 in Inverness and Glace Bay.
More information about continuing care and a schedule of public meetings is available on the Department of Health website at www.gov.ns.ca/health .
Written submissions will be accepted by e-mail to [email protected], or by mail to Project Manager, Strategic Framework Project, Continuing Care Branch, PO Box 488, Halifax, N.S., B3J 2R8, or by fax to 1-866-544-7700 (toll-free). Input can also be provided by calling toll-free 1-877-564-3400.
