Tickets Now on Sale for Harbour Shuttle Tours

Travelling from downtown Halifax to the traditional fishing village of Eastern Passage, passengers onboard the Halifax Harbour Festival shuttle will learn about the central role Halifax Harbour plays in the history, heritage and business life of the community.

Tickets are now on sale for the harbour shuttle tours, which run between Halifax and Eastern Passage during the festival, Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18.

"The shuttle service between Halifax and Eastern Passage offers festival-goers the opportunity to discover their harbour by land and by water," said David Jones, managing director of the Halifax Harbour Festival. "Narrated shuttle tours will add to the festival experience for all Nova Scotians and our guests."

The guided tours touch on the working port of Halifax, historic George's Island and a unique new provincial park on McNabs and Lawlor's islands. The narration is different for each leg of the crossing.

When passengers arrive in Eastern Passage they will enjoy free musical entertainment, storytelling for children and interpreted nature and history walks through Fisherman's Cove and McCormacks Beach Provincial Park.

Halifax and Eastern Passage are two of four waterfront venues for the Halifax Harbour Festival, a two-day celebration that includes a seafood barbecue in Bedford, an outdoor art exhibit in Dartmouth, and kids' activities at all four venues.

The harbour shuttle tour leaves the Halifax Harbourwalk from the wharf adjacent to Nathan Green Square behind the law courts building between Historic Properties and the Halifax Ferry Terminal.

Tours depart from Halifax every two hours starting at 9 a.m. with the final tour boarding at 7 p.m. Eastern Passage departures are from the government wharf and run every two hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The shuttle offers tours both days of the festival.

The Halifax Harbour Festival is a family-friendly celebration, taking place at waterfront venues in Bedford, Dartmouth, Eastern Passage and Halifax, Sept. 17 and 18.

The festival is presented by Waterfront Development Corporation Limited, a provincial Crown corporation that plans, co-ordinates, promotes and develops properties, events and activities on designated waterfronts around Halifax Harbour.
