Tender Called for Road Paving in Yarmouth County
Residents of the Hebron area north of Yarmouth will soon be travelling on newly paved streets as a result of a road-paving tender called by the province.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works has called for a tender for the construction of new pavement on Captain Landers Court, a cul-de-sac in Hebron, and also on Church Lane from the intersection of Trunk 1 to Captain Landers Court. The province and the County of Yarmouth will share the cost of the project through the province's subdivision road paving program.
"The program is a useful tool for helping to finance the paving of smaller, residential streets," said Michael Baker, acting Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "I'm pleased that the department was able to work together with the county for the benefit of the residents of Hebron."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
