Tender Called for Bridge Replacement in Hants County
Drivers in Hants County will have a new bridge to take them across Cheverie Creek after the completion of a bridge- replacement project this fall.
Nova Scotia's Department of Transportation and Public Works has advertised a tender to replace the existing timber bridge at Cheverie Creek on Route 215 west of Cheverie. Detours and a temporary crossing will be supplied during construction, which is scheduled to finish before the end of the year.
"Route 215 along Minas Basin is part of the Glooscap Trail," said Michael Baker, acting Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This project will be helpful not only to area residents but also to the many visitors who drive the route."
The tender will close on Tuesday, Aug. 16.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
