Province Calls Road-Paving Tender in Halifax County

Two sections of scenic, Eastern Shore roads will be providing smoother travel after the completion of a road-paving project tendered by Nova Scotia's Department of Transportation and Public Works.

The tender is for repaving on Crowell Road (also known as West Porters Lake Road)from the intersection of Route 207 for 5.4 kilometres to the intersection of Old Middle Porters Lake Road. There will also be repaving on Pleasant Point Road (also known as Ostrea Lake Road) from the Ostrea Lake-West Jeddore Cross Road for 4.4 kilometres to the end of the existing pavement. The tender closes on Friday, Aug. 19.

"This work is part of the government's aggressive plan to upgrade our highways," said Michael Baker, acting Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "The department is working hard to make the province's roads smoother and safer."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
