Tender Called for Paving in Shelburne County
Drivers in the Shelburne area will soon enjoy a smoother ride after the completion of a road-paving project tendered by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.
The province has advertised a tender for the construction of pavement on School Street from Sandy Point Road for about 0.26 kilometres to the intersection of Lake Road. The project is being co-funded by the province and Shelburne County through the subdivision road-paving program.
"I'm glad the department and county could get together to advance this project," said Michael Baker, acting Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "The work is scheduled for completion before the end of October."
The tender will close on Thursday, Aug. 18.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
