Tenders Called for Road Paving Near Truro

Two road-paving tenders announced by the province will make for smoother travel north of Truro this fall.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works has called tenders for road improvements on the following roads:

  • Onslow Road from the intersection of Route 311 to the intersection of Highway 102, north of Truro and on Route 311 from the intersection of Onslow Road to the intersection of Parks Street and Farnum Road for a total of 4.7 kilometres

  • Crowes Mills Road from Trunk 2 north for 5.6 kilometres to the intersection of Onslow Mountain Road

The tenders involve a total 10.3 kilometres of road improvements.

Both roads carry many vehicles, including trucks, in and out of Truro, and are due for upgrading. The tenders close Friday, Aug. 5.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
