Layne Longfellow Performs Poetry of Famous Ancestor

Layne Longfellow will perform a unique adaptation of the poetry of his ancestor, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, at the West Hants Historical Society in Windsor on Sunday, July 31.

Layne is a member of the international speakers' hall of fame, author of a children's book called Imaginary Menagerie, Visual Feast, a book of visual puns, and several lecture theatre audios and videos.

Mr. Longfellow's great-great-grandfather, Michael, was Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's cousin. An American poet of the 1800s, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is best known to Nova Scotians as the writer of the poem Evangeline. He was an internationally respected scholar and professor.

All proceeds of the evening support the West Hants Historical Society and Haliburton House Museum, hosts of the event which begins at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, at the West Hants Historical Society, 281 King St., Windsor. Haliburton House Museum is part of the Nova Scotia Museum family of provincial museums, and celebrates the life and work of Judge Thomas Chandler Haliburton, a politician and internationally known Nova Scotian writer of the early 1800s. The museum is open daily until Oct. 15.
