Paving Contract Awarded to Pictou County

A $287,540 road-paving contract for Pictou County has been announced by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.

The contract was awarded to Balodis Inc. and involves repaving on Big Island Road from 1.7 kilometres west of the junction of Route 245 for about 2.3 kilometres toward Merigomish Beach. Repairs will also be made to the sea wall.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
