Paving Contract Awarded for Hants County

A $1,367,215 road-paving contract for Hants County has been awarded by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.

Chapman Bros. Construction Ltd. will repave Trunk 14 from the Lunenburg/Hants county line for 9.2 kilometres north to the junction of New Ross Road, south of Smiths Corner.

"Motorists travelling between Windsor and Chester will find the ride more comfortable and safer when this project is completed," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "When combined with the work that was done last year, it means a significant amount of Trunk 14 will have improved pavement by the end of this construction season."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
